ASA 2011 Workshops in June and July
Two workshops this Summer are: Plein Air Painting with Chuck Marshall on June 9, 10 & 11 and Value Composition in Watercolor with Thomas Schaller on July 21, 22 & 23. Both workshops will be based at the ASA Studio at 140 East Market Street Studio (3rd Floor), Akron OH 44308 but the Plein Air group will be painting at various locations centered on Peninsula in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Recent News
Congratulations to ASA members Barb Jenkins, Judy Táckas and Tom Williams for being included in the Second Annual May Show at Lakeland Community College! Bonus kudos to Judy for winning Best in Show for “Robert and his Enigmatic Beard.” The show will be up through July 8, 2011.

Summer Break
Live Model Friday Mornings have been discontinued. Resuming by September, possibly mid-August.
Every Friday morning from 9:30–12:30 ASA members have the excellent opportunity to draw and paint a live model. Cost is $5 per session for members and $8 for non-members. Models generally work the same pose for three sessions.
Be sure to arrive BEFORE 9:30 to take the elevator up the the third floor and set up in time. Late arrivers will have to wait until the first model break to set up.
Contact ASA Friday Session Coordinator Judy Gaiser to receive e-mail alerts about who will be posing, cancellations, etc. or model opportunities.

Wednesday Programs featured at Summit Art Space from September to June
On Wednesday evenings ASA members meet to expand their artistic horizons. On the first Wednesday of most months, artists draw and paint a live model for a minimal charge ($5 members, $8 non-members). On the second and third Wednesdays, we may bring paintings or drawings that address a common challenge, or watch an artist’s video. On the last Wednesday, we usually have a critique. Summit Artspace open and free admission to the Akron Art Museum on the first Sunday of every month as part of Sunday Sampler!
Come up to the Artspace Third Floor and check out the ASA studio during the Akron Art Museum’s Sunday Sampler event every first Sunday from 1 p.m.–5 p.m. The Summit ArtSpace gallery and Artists of Rubber City’s gallery “The Box” as well as the studios of five “Penthouse Artists” will be open, so it’s worth the walk: one block east on E. Market Street from the Akron Art Museum.
